Is it a cake? Is it a bread? Is it a muffin?
Have you tried our Panettone? Is it a cake? Is it a bread? Is it a muffin?
Pronounced "pah-net-taw-nee," Panettone is an Italian yeast-leavened sweet bread that has its origins in Milan in the early 19th century. Sometimes called Christmas Cake or Sweet bread, or just “bread” in many Italian homes this time of year. This sweet, brioche like bread typically contains dried fruits like raisins and candied citrus peel, some times brandy or rum and is enjoyed as a staple of this season.
Here at Old Town Farmstand we have created our own twist on this Italian classic. We have taken a traditional Italian Christmas bread and given it a chocolatey twist! We shrunk them down to individual servings. Studded with chocolate, speckled with real vanilla beans, splashed with a bit of rum, pure almond extract and a touch of orange. Finished off with a mixture of our house made vanilla sugar and our house made orange sugar. These are soft and delicious and a special Christmas treat!
